Frequently Asked Questions about our landscape gardening services
We'll try to answer your most frequently asked questions about our gardening services here. But if you can't find what you're looking for - no problem - just call 020 8059 8100 and speak to one of our Customer Account Managers. They're always happy to help!
I'm thinking of having some garden landscaping. What do I do next?
Either call or email us with your requirements. Depending on those requirements, we will arrange an appointment for you to meet a gardener, a team leader or a garden designer. At the meeting we'll listen to your ideas, give you our advice (if you want it!) and talk about your budget. We should then have enough information to provide you with a quotation for the landscaping project.
Why do you need to know my budget? Will you charge me more if you think I have more money?
No. This is completely against our ethos. We will always ask you what amount of money you are prepared to spend on the project. We can then give you a better idea of what we can - and what we can't achieve - for that amount of money. Materials vary in quality and price. Larger projects take more time and consequentially, cost more to build than smaller projects. We always charge the same, fixed daily rates for our gardeners, regardless of your financial status.
I'm not happy with the price - it is more expensive than the other quote I have had. What can I do?
We're not afraid of the competition. We know that we offer a great service at a good price. We offer an open and transparent pricing model. There is nothing hidden in our quotations. If you're basing your decision on price alone - then accept the cheapest quote - this is not usually ours.
I'm happy to go ahead with the quote. What is the next step?
Once you are happy with the design and details of the project, we will ask you for a deposit. The deposit is used to purchase the materials for your project. These are your materials and that's why we ask you to pay for them! This is usually 50% of the cost of the project. We accept payments by card, credit card or bank transfer. We never accept cash. We then schedule you with a mutually acceptable start date for the project.
Do you work weekends?
In the summer when we are busiest, we usually work 6 days per week. But it is not a problem if this is inconvenient for you. Sometimes it's nice to have a Saturday off!
My project is scheduled for 5 days but it is going to take longer. Why?
We try very hard to make sure that we quote an accurate time scale for your project. However, some things are beyond our control. In the UK, the weather is our number one reason for delays. Turf, patios, brickwork, planting and decking projects don't go well in heavy rain. Sometimes suppliers have problems delivering materials at the right time or councils forget to issue skip permits. Things sometimes happen. Although, most of the time things go according to plan. We don't ask for any more money when projects take longer than quoted - and because we incur the financial penalty - you can be sure that we take every measure possible to ensure that this doesn't happen very often. Similarly, sometimes the project goes faster than we anticipated. We don't charge any extra for that either!
I'm not happy with my gardener. What should I do?
You're happiness is our concern. In the unlikely event that you are not happy with one of team members - call us. We will discuss the problem and endeavour to come up with an amicable solution.
How long do you guarantee your work for?
You will of course have guarantees on all the materials used for your landscaping project. Most decking is guaranteed for 15 years for example. We guarantee all our workmanship for 6 months on landscape gardening projects. That means if we are at fault, we'll fix, repair or replace anything. Don't worry, this doesn't happen very often! But if it does, we'll make sure we put it right. We're keen to keep you happy - 30% of our work comes from recommendations.
Should I get some other quotes?
Absolutely! Always aim to get 3 quotes in total for any major project you are contemplating. We're confident that you will find us one of the most professional landscaping companies in the UK and we encourage you to compare us with our competitors!
