Frequently Asked Questions about Audio Visual services and equipment
We've tried to answer a few questions that we're frequently asked about our Audio Visual services in London.
Is it possible to mount a flat screen television onto a plaster board wall?
The simple answer is - yes. However, it can be a tricky job. You will need the correct type of bracket and fixings. We have experience of mounting many flat screen televisions to plasterboard. And of course we are fully insured - so why take the risk yourself?
Do I need to have an electrical socket behind the TV screen?
Not usually. But we can install one if you need to. It can be helpful as there are no trailing wires to the plug socket. But we can connect a cable through the wall to another socket or hide the cable with a covering.
Is it possible to mount a flat screen TV above a working fireplace?
Mostly yes. If your fireplace has a mantle piece it will deflect the heat away from the screen. If you have a gas effect fire, most of the heat goes up the chimney, so this is not a problem. Sometimes, if you have a very hot, real fire (unusual in London) it may warm the chimney to the extent that it is not advisable to mount a television there.
I want to mount the TV on a brick wall. Can you hide the wires?
Yes. And this is where it depends on your budget.
- On a chimney breast we can drill through the side and feed the cables through the holes. (Medium pricing)
- On a solid brick wall we can cut a grove into it, run the cable, then plaster, paint and decorate. (Expensive option)
- The cheapest method is to run surface cable and cover it with trunking or conduit. (Cheapest option)
How can you hide wires in a plasterboard wall?
This is much easier than a brick wall. Basically, we punch a hole into the plasterboard to pull the cables through and fill the hole afterwards.
Do you offer a guarantee?
Quite simply - yes. We guarantee our installation work for 2 years. In the unlikely event of a catastrophic failure - such as your TV falling off the wall - we will replace the equipment and repair any damage caused. We do not include any parts you have supplied yourself as part of the installation guarantee.
Are you fully insured?
Yes. We have public liability insurance and are fully insured up to £2,000,000.
Do you carry leads and wall brackets?
Yes. We carry a wide range of brackets and leads to enable us to install pretty much any standard installation.
